A Tree is a
Portal
to the Sky
“A Tree is a Portal to the Sky” is an immersive, large-scale sculpture that invites visitors into the heart of nature, blurring the lines between art and the natural world.
Standing 6 feet in diameter and 8 feet tall, this sculptural tree trunk is an open invitation to step inside and experience a space of reflection and tranquility.
Constructed from a combination of reeds and dowels, the lightweight structure is enveloped in a semi-translucent fabric shell, housing a delicate suminagashi print on sheer fabric, inspired by the rings of a tree.
The form responds to light, wind, and movement, shifting gently in the breeze- offering a dynamic, living work of art.
Much like a tree that endures storms, it serves as a testament to the enduring nature of life and memory. This piece provides a space where nature, art, and sound converge, offering visitors a place to reflect on the cycles of life, loss, and renewal.
